5 Teropong Pantau Gerhana Bulan di Bosscha
"Kami menggunakan teropong kecil agar prosesnya yang terlihat. Kalau pakai yang besar terlalu detail, nanti malah melihat kawah di bulan, bukan gerhananya," ujar Chatief Kunjaya, Kepala Pengabdian Masyarakat Observatorium Bosscha.
Pengamatan dilakukan untuk pengumpulan data dan dilakukan oleh sejumlah peneliti.
Ada dua jenis teropong yabg digunakan yaitu teropong jenis reflaktor dan reflektor.Teropong reflaktor mengumpulkan cahaya dengan cara pembiasan sementara reflektor mengumpulkan cahaya dengan bantuan pantulan cahaya.
Teropong yang digunakan antara lain teropong surya, teropong fixen dan teropong william.
Karena kondisi cuaca di Bosscha yang berkabut, beberapa kali lensa teropong ditiupkan dengan pengering rambut.
Gerhana bulan sebagian akan dimulai pada pukul 01.23 WIB hingga pukul 05.02 WIB, dalam rentang waktu itu akan terjadi gerhana bulan total mulai pukul 02.22 WIB sampai pukul 04.03 WIB. Gerhana bulan total ini bisa dilihat dengan mata telanjang di seluruh Indonesia.
Ini merupakan peristiwa yang spektakuler karena proses gerhana memakan waktu yang lama sehingga kita bisa memantaunya dengan leluasa. Bulan nantinya akan ditutup oleh bayangan bumi, yang tadinya bulan berwarna putih akan menjadi hitam kemerahan dan itu berlangsung cukup lama.
